This is the official website of RARO (Ruapehu Alpine Rescue Organisation).
The Ruapehu Alpine Rescue Organisation is a volunteer based group responsible for carrying out alpine search and rescue work in and around the Tongariro National Park. Our team members range from outdoor instructors to ski patrollers to active recreationalists who all have one thing in mind – helping others in need.
The Tongariro National Park is an amazing place to explore whether skiing, hiking or climbing but it must also be treated with the respect of a major alpine mountain range.
