On the 28th of July a 62 year old climber from Auckland took a fall from above the “door” in the pinnacles and was injured severely. Whakapapa ski patrol members were alerted to the situation via St. John and responded. RARO was initiated and a helicopter called out. Staging from top of the knoll we stropped Ryan Leong into the site with a rescue nappy. Nat did a great job of keeping things steady and the patient was flown to Waikato for further treatment. All in all, a reasonably technical wee number but great to be working with such a good crew. RARO forever!..
